Live Animal Transport Services by Rodent Research India Pvt. Ltd.

Rodent Research India Pvt. Ltd. provides reliable, regulated, and welfare-compliant live animal transport services across India, in strict adherence to the CCSEA (Committee for the Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals) guidelines and relevant international animal welfare standards.

While air transport has traditionally been the preferred mode for long-distance shipment of laboratory animals, it is important to note that most airlines in India, including Air India and other commercial carriers, are currently not accepting live animal consignments due to unforeseen operational constraints. In response to this challenge, Rodent Research India Pvt. Ltd. has initiated a dedicated road-based transport service to ensure uninterrupted support to the biomedical research community across the country.

To enable safe and compliant road transportation, we operate a dedicated, custom-built Tata Force vehicle designed exclusively for live animal transit. Key features and capacity of the vehicle include:

Fully air-conditioned environment with temperature and humidity control to ensure animal comfort and safety throughout the journey.
Capacity to transport:
  • Up to 600 rabbits
  • Up to 2000 guinea pigs
  • Up to 5000 mice
  • Up to 3000 rats
Strict compliance with CCSEA regulations, including those pertaining to space allocation, ventilation, species segregation, and minimization of transport stress.
Regular vehicle sanitation and use of secure, ventilated transport crates to prevent injury or distress to the animals.
A team of 2 to 3 trained drivers is assigned for each long-distance journey to ensure continuous movement and prevent delays. All drivers are trained in animal handling, emergency response, and welfare protocols.

As part of our standard operating procedure:

Unnecessary halts or stoppages are not permitted during the journey, except for brief stops not exceeding one hour, only if absolutely necessary.
We ensure that all relevant animal welfare documentation and certifications are in place before dispatch and upon delivery of animals to the destination.
